W.A.S.P. to amerykański band wywodzący się z wczesnej heavy metalowej sceny w Los Angeles, choć w ich muzyce nie brakuje też elementów getrów w panterkę (czyt. glamu). Jest to jednak glam dość specyficzny, bo traktuje nie tyle o miłości, ile o wódzie, motocyklach, wódzie, ruchaniu...
... A skoro już o ruchaniu mowa, to W.A.S.P. był prominentnym celem zrzeszenia rodziców PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center), o czym traktuje kawałek „Harder, Faster”. Nazwa zespołu była przyczynkiem licznych kontrowersji, jako że chodziły słuchy iż za akronimem (?) kryje się hasło „We Are Sexual Perverts” albo „We Are Sexual Predators”, jednak Blackie, wokalista zespołu, miał powiedzieć kiedyś reporterowi, że tłumaczenie to „We Ain’t Sure, Pal”. Inna interpretacja to „White Anglo-Saxon Protestants”, której źródłem jest utwór „Animal”.
Chodzą słuchy, że płyta W.A.S.P. jest w stanie zreanimować zwłoki albo poderwać na nogi inwalidę, w co nietrudno uwierzyć, bo zwłaszcza na debiucie, The Last Command, Inside the Electric Circus czy The Headless Children, W.A.S.P. jest wczesnym Slayerem z domieszką glamu i nałogowym palaczem na wokalu.
Moim ulubionym albumem, a jednocześnie jednym z moich ulubionych albumów metalowych w ogóle, jest Inside the Electric Circus, na którym każdy kawałek to absolutny hit.
